Diagram of the citation chain

In creating the poster for the Geological Society of America Annual Meeting (you can see my abstract here) I created a rather simple diagram of the citation chain. The graphics are rather basic, but I thought I’d share the image here in case anyone wants to use it when talking to students about how the scientific literature works (which I plan to do in the future).

Hi Bonnie, it’s interesting not just to show how the scientific literature works, but I’m thinking in use it to organize my papers. Do you know some software to create these kind of digram? I mean, automate this creation, I give an article and it creates this citation chain. Have you find some thing like that?
